"Don't be intimidated by talking to lawyers. Don't dismiss the value of a free consultation with a family law lawyer. Also, don't overlook the value of a paid legal consult with a top family law lawyer - especially if you are going up against a narcissist. I created this helpful "Get The Right Lawyer Guide" after talking with thousands of struggling moms. I realized that they needed help interviewing attorneys. They also needed help maximizing their legal consultations to be valuable assets and tools for gaining perspective, knowledge, and insight into their case.

When I was going through the family court custody battle, I learned many "useful for later" things by talking to 5 different attorneys. Each consultation gave me new ideas. I understood that different approaches could change the outcome of my case. The only legal advice that I give to my coaching clients is to get legal advice. I now say: it's wise to get a few Narcissist or DV abuser expert opinions on their case if they are dealing with a narcissist. It's a smart strategy to get perspectives! (Expert opinions can become options later, if and when needed.)

I encourage my mom-clients to do about 3 legal consultations to contrast and compare. (Having options is good. Being desperate is not.) We have to know what our options are. We need to give ourselves time to think about what we want to do in our case. (use my 20 Want List) ONLY we can gauge who could best represent us. Only we can make this important decision, but only after we know what our options actually are!"
